Atari announced recently that they would be releasing their first games console in more than 20 years. Now, the first images have been released to give eager fans a glimpse of what is to come. A video was also released in June that suggested it would play on the same iconic features of the old Atari consoles.

The new images show that the console is going to be available in black and red or with wood panelling. The latter version very much harks back to the old consoles released in 1977, a retro blast from the past for nostalgic game fans. There is going to be an HDMI connector and SD card reader, as well as USB slots.

Few details beyond the external appearance are known yet – Atari is keeping its fans waiting. They have, however, told of plans to re-release classic, much-loved games, whilst generating new gaming content for the console as well.
